What is an API?

An API or Application Programming Interface, for its acronym in English (Application Programming Interface), is a code used for different applications to communicate with each other easily and efficiently.

Although it seems like something unique in the world of programming, it is something that is widely used in Digital Marketing. APIs are buttons that allow you to quickly share social media posts.

Today, it is a key element especially in the field of Social Marketing. An API not only allows you to share posts quickly on all the social networks on a website, but also streamlines web programming. This is what has made it so popular on platforms like WordPress, for its ease of use and the agility of its data loading. Without this, web programming tasks would be much more complicated and would require much more knowledge.

Thanks to this kind of interface software, we can also schedule posts on our social networks to more efficiently carry out our digital marketing strategies. It also allows you to embed YouTube videos in a Blogpost or articles from stores such as Amazon so as not to distract people from browsing our site.

Without a doubt, without the development of the API, all these tasks would be much more complex, as it used to be in the past, not so many years ago.

What an API is for

An API is a sort of common language that allows two different websites or applications to communicate with each other. A clear example of the usefulness of this concept in everyday life is when we shop online.

To pay for the product, an API allows the shopping website to contact our bank's site to make the payment and verify that the entire transaction was successful.

In the Marketing industry, this helps you share content quickly and gain more visibility. It also promotes lead generation and streamlining of navigation. Without a doubt, everything would be more complicated without the existence of APIs.

Examples of Advertising Texts

The best example of this is the social media buttons we use in blog posts Daimatics.agency. If we enter, for example, this post, we can find at the end the buttons to share on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and others.

We can also mention as an example a recent Whatsapp update that you have already noticed: the one that allows us to watch videos from Instagram or Facebook without leaving the application. All this is possible thanks to the use of an API.
