What are the Categories

The Categories are all those branches in which the content of a web page can be classified depending on the subject they deal with or the hierarchy established within the content tree. Its use is key when structuring the publications of a website and, in fact, it is one of the points that is most emphasized when dealing with specialized tools in content management, such as it can be WordPress.

The use of this term takes on an almost absolute role when building the entire structure of a website, given that without it, it would be impossible to understand how pages are built and ordered today. Thanks to these, the contents and publications can be classified by topic or by the criterion that is determined, as long as it is done through logic.

It is a vital element today, which has always been present in the design and publication within websites. It is very important to know what the categories are if a page is going to be developed, since only if they are done properly can you guarantee the best user experience for visitors and, therefore, give a worse or better image about the signature that there is after the site.

What the Categories are for

The main purpose of the Categories is to establish a classification with which to order all the content that is published on a web page. With them, both webmasters and publishers can classify and separate publications so that they are easier for users to locate and, therefore, a smooth and comfortable navigation is achieved throughout the website.

In addition to being a fundamental practice, this has a very positive influence on the image and even the positioning of a website. It reflects quality and interest in improving the user experience, so for search engines like Google, it is synonymous with deserving of a good reputation and position in the SERPs.

Examples of Categories

To give examples of categories, we will look at the Services section of our marketing agency's website, Daimatics.agency. Clicking on it will open a drop-down with different categories that can be accessed as needed.
